United Airlines Launches Seasonal Nonstop, Daily Service to London Heathrow

Home

DENVER – Mar. 24, 2018 – Today, Mayor Michael B. Hancock and Denver International Airport (DEN) celebrated United Airlines’ inaugural nonstop flight between Denver and London Heathrow (LHR). With the flight, United becomes the first airline in Denver to operate long-haul service from Denver to both Europe and Asia.

“Denver is fortunate to have benefitted from continued investment by United Airlines over the past 80 years,” said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “United’s most recent domestic and international expansion, especially this new London/Heathrow service, is a key contributor to Denver’s growing global relevance.”

The new service will operate daily through October 26 using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with a total of 219 seats – 36 flat-bed seats in United Polaris business class, 70 Economy Plus seats and 113 seats in United Economy. The flight is scheduled to arrive in DEN at 2:25 p.m. on Sundays and 2:15 p.m. the rest of the week and depart DEN at 5:40 p.m.

“On behalf of all of the United employees, we share the excitement with the Denver community as we inaugurate our new service between Denver and London Heathrow today,” said Steve Jaquith, vice president of United’s Denver hub. “We’re looking forward to providing our customers with more convenient one-stop options from markets that are served only through Denver, and are thankful to have the support of the city as we continue to grow at Denver International.”

Currently, nearly 500 people a day travel between Denver and London, ranking London as Denver’s largest long-haul market, and second largest international market – only Cancun, Mexico, generates more demand.

“This flight not only provides Denver and Colorado residents and businesses with more options to access London, but it also strengthens DEN’s position as a hub for transatlantic connecting passengers,” said airport CEO Kim Day. “The United Kingdom currently ranks as Denver’s largest overseas international market, and we look forward to further market stimulation as a result of United’s new service.”

From an economic standpoint, the United Kingdom ranks as the Colorado’s largest foreign investor, and the commercial relationship between Colorado and the United Kingdom generated nearly $425 million over the last year.
