DENVER – Mar. 31, 2020 – Tonight, Denver International Airport will be conducting maintenance work on the train to the gates and will be adjusting security screening due to lower passenger traffic volumes as a result of COVID-19.
Train to the Gates
Starting at 6 p.m. tonight and continuing until tomorrow morning, DEN will begin the first phase of permanent repairs to a switch on the Train to the Gates following emergency work that took place earlier in March. During this time, trains will run from the terminal to the gates every 8 to 10 minutes instead of the normal 2 to 3 minutes.
To minimize impacts to passengers and employees who need access to the concourses, work is taking place in the evening and overnight hours, when the passenger traffic volumes are the lowest. Additionally, three four-car trains will be operating during this time to allow passengers to spread out more. DEN strongly recommends passengers move to the center of the train platform to utilize all train cars to allow for more space. Work on the train to the gates is scheduled to be complete by tomorrow morning.
While the train will still stop at each concourse, those on Concourse A will need to pay close attention to the overhead digital signage above each train door so they don’t mistakenly enter the wrong train. These messages will list the direction of the train as only on side of the platform will be utilized. This means that one train will go to Concourses B and C and the next train will go to the terminal/baggage claim.
North TSA Checkpoint Closure
Starting tonight at 9 p.m., the North TSA Checkpoint will close due to lower traffic volumes. The South Checkpoint, located near the Westin hotel, will remain open 24 hours a day and the A Bridge Checkpoint will operate as normal from 4:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
In collaboration with TSA, we have adjusted the security checkpoints to provide more space between the TSA lanes. In addition, we have added signage to encourage passengers to practice social distancing by providing additional space between passengers.
