DENVER – Nov. 20, 2017 – Sharpen your skates, dust off your winter gloves and hit the ice before your next flight as Denver International Airport (DEN) announces the return of its popular and free ice skating rink!
Back by popular demand for a second year, the DEN ice skating rink will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, from Nov. 24 to Jan. 7. And, at about 40 feet by 60 feet, this year’s rink is larger and now includes a custom Airstream trailer skate shop offering free ice skate rentals on the plaza, located on level 5 between the Jeppesen Terminal and the Westin Denver International Airport.
“More than 8,000 people laced up their skates and enjoyed the ice skating rink last year, so we are bringing it back this year bigger and better,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “We are encouraging passengers to come early to the airport to enjoy the holiday season on ice before their flight. And, since the ice rink is pre-security, nontravelers can also enjoy skating, music and other entertainment we are bringing to DEN.”
The ice rink will feature music daily, and free hot chocolate every Friday from 4-6 p.m. Other activities, including special guest appearances, will be announced later on. This year’s ice rink is made possible in partnership with United Airlines. Follow DEN on Twitter and Facebook for chances to win prizes for the duration of the skating rink.
Other holiday entertainment – including choirs, musicians, pianists and dance groups – will take place inside the Jeppesen Terminal from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from Dec. 18-24.
The plaza is located pre-security, is open to the public and is accessible just steps from the new University of Colorado A Line station at DEN (tickets are $9 and good for multiple trips during the same day), or a short walk from the airport parking garages ($3/hour). The Great Hall is located in the center of the Jeppesen Terminal also located pre-security and open to the public.
Denver International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. DEN is the primary economic engine for the state of Colorado, generating more than $36 billion for the region annually.
