DENVER – Sept. 12, 2018 – Denver International Airport (DEN) has set yet another monthly passenger traffic record with more than 6.1 million travelers passing through the airport in July. This was the first time the airport served more than 6 million passengers in a single month.
Passenger traffic has been growing steadily at DEN since October 2017 with July marking the tenth consecutive month of record-breaking numbers. July 2018 now stands as the busiest month in Denver aviation history. More than 207,000 travelers passed through DEN on Friday, July 13, making it the busiest single day in Denver aviation history.
The airport is on pace to set an annual passenger traffic record with additional routes on multiple airlines scheduled to begin service through the end of the year.
“We are very happy to see sustained growth in passenger traffic, which includes a 21 percent increase in international travelers compared to July 2017,” said DEN CEO Kim Day.
The large increase in international passenger traffic can be attributed to several new international routes DEN has added since last year, as well as July being Edelweiss’ first full month of nonstop service to Zurich, Switzerland. In July, 284,312 passengers travelled internationally, making it the second busiest month for international travel in Denver aviation history. June 2018 currently stands as the airport’s busiest month for international travel with 291,383 passengers.
More than 49.3 million pounds of cargo passed through DEN in July, a 9.6 percent increase from July of 2017 when 44.9 million pounds of cargo passed through the airport.
