Denver International Airport Passenger Traffic Declines Slightly in February, Year-to-Date on Track

Home

DENVER, CO — April 5, 2013 — February passenger traffic at Denver International Airport (DIA) declined slightly by 1.6 percent in 2013 compared to February last year. A total of 3,697,097 passengers passed through DIA in February 2013, compared to 3,759,019 in February 2012. The year-to-date total increased by 0.8 percent from 7,664,157 passengers during the same period in 2012, to 7,721,880 passengers this year.

“While our passenger traffic decreased slightly compared to last February because of leap year in 2012, it would have increased by 1.9 percent if we adjust for the extra day,” said Manager of Aviation Kim Day. “Our year-to-date numbers are on track, and I am happy to say that the number of destinations flown to and from Denver increased from 167 in February 2012 to 175 this February. Working with airlines to add new service continues to be a priority at Denver International Airport.”

Also in February, mail, freight and express cargo operations saw a 3 percent decrease, from 40,597,279 pounds of cargo handled in 2012 to 39,368,993 pounds of cargo handled in 2013. There was a decrease in overall airport flight operations, from 46,742 in 2012 to 42,949 in 2013.
