Denver International Airport Passenger Traffic Declines Slightly In April

Home

DENVER, CO — June 6, 2013 — April passenger traffic at Denver International Airport (DIA) declined slightly in 2013 compared to April 2012. A total of 4,031,540 passengers passed through DIA in April 2013, compared to 4,137,759 in April of last year. The year-to-date total remained essentially flat, decreasing by 0.3 percent from 16,259,960 passengers during the same period in 2012, to 16,209,851 passengers to date in 2013.

“The spring snows in April contributed to slightly lower passenger traffic at DIA, but overall year-to-date numbers remained steady,” said Manager of Aviation Kim Day. “As summer travel season gets underway, we are looking forward to the launch of new non-stop service to two new international destinations, Tokyo, Japan on June 10 and Fort McMurray, Canada on June 7. The new flights will add to the more than 180 non-stop destinations around the world served by DIA.”

Also in April, mail, freight and express cargo operations saw a 6.3 percent decrease, from 42,261,873 pounds of cargo handled in April 2012 to 39,589,722 pounds of cargo handled in April 2013. There was a decrease in overall airport flight operations, from 49,208 in 2012 to 47,145 in 2013.
