Home

DENVER – Aug. 7, 2017 – More passengers passed through Denver International Airport (DEN) during the first six months of the year than the entire population of Texas, setting an all-time record for air travel in the Mile High City.

Through June 2017, a total of 29,568,276 passengers used DEN, an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the first half of last year and the most passengers by mid-year in Denver’s history.

June also marked 22 months of consecutive monthly year-over-year passenger traffic increases at DEN, with a total of 5,650,682 passengers. That’s an incredible increase of 441,735 passengers, or 8.5 percent greater than last June, and is the single busiest month ever at the airport. Friday, June 30 also set a new record for the single busiest day in DEN history, with 197,276 passengers.

“Denver International Airport has seen strong growth through the first half of the year, marked by substantial capacity increases by all the major airlines and new service that included Southwest to Pensacola, Allegiant to Cincinnati, United to San Luis Obispo and ViaAir to Branson,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “International passenger traffic also continues to soar, with a nearly 17-percent increase in June 2017 over June 2016, which makes this June the busiest month on record for international traffic in Denver.”

Mail, freight and express cargo operations increased 0.7 percent in June, with 47,814,744 pounds, compared to 47,482,982 pounds of cargo in June 2016.
