Denver International Airport Continues Record-Breaking Passenger Trend in May 2019

Home

DENVER – July 22, 2019 – Passenger traffic at Denver International Airport (DEN) broke another record in May 2019 and was the second-busiest month in the airport’s history, after July 2018. Passenger traffic increased 9.6 percent over May 2018 with just over six million passengers.

During May 2019, Frontier added service to Mobile, AL, Burlington, VT and Green Bay, WI – three new destinations for Denver. Additionally, United began new service to Frankfurt, Germany. DEN had nonstop service to 199 destinations in May 2019, 21 more than the previous year.

DEN is currently experiencing the busiest summer season yet. As summer travel heats up, passengers are encouraged to arrive at least two-hours before their flight and take advantage of free services like free bag check and events on DEN’s outdoor plaza like our Park on the Plaza, featuring lawn games and lounge seating.

Mail, freight and express cargo operations increased 19 percent in May with 57,592,754 pounds of cargo. Atlas Air and UPS primarily led cargo carriers in increased cargo, while some commercial passenger carriers Lufthansa, United and Southwest, also saw large increases.
