DENVER – July 19, 2018 – Passenger traffic at Denver International Airport (DEN) broke another record in May 2018 with over 5.5 million passengers passing through the airport, a 4.6 percent increase over May 2017. This was the eighth-consecutive month of record-breaking traffic at the airport.

DEN’s airline partners added nine new routes in May, including four new destinations: Asheville, N.C. (AVL) and Bellingham, Wash. (BLI), both served by Allegiant; and Myrtle Beach, S.C. (MYR) and Savannah, Ga. (SAV), both served by Frontier. In May 2018, DEN offered nonstop service to 178 destinations, eight more than May 2017.

“Summer travel season is in full swing at DEN and, as expected, we continue to grow and break passenger traffic records,” said Kim Day, DEN CEO. “As a result of our continued growth, we’re investing in major capital improvement projects to update our facility, enhance security, add capacity and improve the passenger experience.”

Mail, freight and express cargo operations increased by 1.3 percent in May with 48,572,343 pounds, compared to 47,971,502 pounds of cargo in May 2017.
