DENVER – Aug. 22, 2023 – Denver International Airport (DEN) CEO, Phil Washington, has been appointed by U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to serve on the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity (ACTE) under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Out of 240 applicants, 24 members were selected to serve on the committee to help inform the Secretary on best practices to institutionalize equity into U.S. Department of Transportation programs, policies, regulations, and activities; Strengthen and establish partnerships with overburdened and underserved communities; Offer a forum for coordination and the exchange of information on equity concerns raised in local and regional transportation decisions; and provide added strength, objectivity, and confidence to management’s decision-making process.
“I am honored and excited to join the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity,” DEN CEO Phil Washington said. “Transportation is a fundamental aspect of every person’s life, and it is our duty to ensure that everyone has access to safe, efficient, and reliable transportation options, including underserved communities who have been historically underrepresented. I look forward to working alongside my fellow committee members to drive positive change and create a more inclusive transportation landscape.”
