Location and Schedule 

  • In this position, you can expect to work on-site at Denver International Airport.

  • The schedule will follow a 5/8 format (5 days/week with 8-hour shifts) and is subject to extended on-call coverage for emergency preparedness exercises, irregular operations, snow, and emergency situations.

  • Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. All scheduling is subject to adjustment and based on operational need.

What You'll Do

The Airport Emergency Management and Communications Department consists of the Emergency Management Operations, Preparedness, and the Communications Center.

  • The Emergency Management – Operations team; staffs the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) with a duty manager for 15 hours a day and is responsible as the Incident Commander (IC) or EOC Manager for airport incidents

  • The Emergency Management – Preparedness team; develops both in-class and computer-based training as well as conducting several Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) courses. This group also manages the multi-year training exercise program as well as oversees the continuity planning for the entire airport, collating each business unit’s plan into a single comprehensive continuity plan

Responsibilities and duties of the position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist the emergency preparedness training program, including facilitating course materials and reporting and tracking for all employees and key stakeholders to include enrollment management, notifications, completion tracking, and updating of all 14 CFR Part 139 training records.

  • Provide the Training and Exercise Manager reports and metrics for training courses, as required.

  • Facilitate emergency preparedness classroom courses, update and maintain materials, maintain schedule for CPR instructors, and track training for all division employees.

  • Improve existing training courses utilizing leading-edge technology, methodologies, and industry best practices.

  • Assist in designing, developing, and conducting emergency management exercises by following HSEEP guidelines, developing and facilitating discussion and operation-based exercises, and contributing to After Action Reports, including FAA regulatory emergency exercises

  • Assist in the airport Integrated Preparedness Planning (IPP) Workshop for IPP development by collaborating with internal and external partners to help document the process of strengthening core capabilities through a progressive approach to planning, training, and realistic exercises

  • Assist the Emergency Operations Section by supporting the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during activations for any event or incident that impacts the airport

  • Cultivate, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and other stakeholders to gain their cooperation and support in assigned projects

  • Support the Emergency Management section with other duties, as requested

Our ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience: 

  • Experience and previous responsibilities working in the fields of Airport Operations or Emergency Management

  • Previous experience developing, delivering and analyzing the success of adult training programs

  • Familiarity with Regulatory Requirements from both the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration

  • Completion of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).

  • Three (3) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area. (This does not include clerical experience.)

  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

  • Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within the probationary period. 

FBI Background Check

FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required. 

 

Shift Work, Snow Duties, and Emergency Incidents

This position does require shift work as DEN is a 24/7/365 operation (includes nights, weekends and holidays).  Mandatory extended/additional shifts can be required.  Additionally, this position is required to work mandatory snow duties, which vary and can include nights, weekends and holidays.
